Suffering—whether physical, psychological, or otherwise—is one of the most fundamental and urgent realities of existence. And yet, no scientific discipline or global institution is fully dedicated to it as a central concern.
I propose to help fill this gap by inviting those who recognize the importance of this issue to join a working team responsible for implementing the following plan over the next few years. The goal is to develop three interrelated activities:
- A World Center for the Control of Excessive Suffering
- A new scientific discipline called algoscience
- An AI application to address questions related to suffering
I am looking for individuals who are ready to get actively involved—at various levels—to help bring this plan to life. People from different backgrounds are welcome (non-exhaustive list):
- Researchers or practitioners in arts and literature, animal welfare, biology, economics, education, environmental science, ethics, healthcare, history, law, media, neuroscience, philosophy, politics, psychology, religion, sociology...
- People with special skills such as communicators, strategists, writers, funders, humanitarians, activists, thinkers, sincerely curious minds...
- Developers or designers to help build interactive tools or a prototype of the AI application.
I offer the opportunity to contribute to an intellectual and practical endeavor of high significance.
