"The Birthgap" - Film Screening & Discussion

EA Berlin invites you to a community film night followed by a discussion on a debated demographic trend that might require more attention.

We will watch the documentary The Birthgap, which explores a global phenomenon: across many countries, people are having fewer children than previous generations, and birth rates are falling below replacement level. Some researchers argue that this trend could have profound long-term consequences for societies, economies, and global stability. Others question how serious the issue really is and what ethical responses might look like.

After the screening, we will discuss the film and its implications. This event is intended to be curious, thoughtful, and open-minded. Whether you already have strong views on the topic or are encountering these ideas for the first time, you are very welcome (even encouraged) to join and share your thoughts.

Schedule
18:00 - Arrivals & short intro
18:30 - Film screening
20:30 - Short break
20:45 - Moderated discussion
21:30 - End

Vegan snacks will be provided!

Feel free to invite friends who might be interested in EA-style discussions about global challenges.

Be excellent to each other and follow the TEAMWORK Code of Conduct!

Please make sure to be there before the screening starts!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

If you're interested to learn more about this topic, I highly recommend this podcast by Lage der Nation (more nuanced and more solution-oriented than the documentary imo):

It focuses on Germany specifically though.

Thanks a lot Elena for the recommendation :)
