Talking about charity evaluation in general, and on a local level.

The overall idea is to collect some data about local charities, evaluate them, and then maybe do something with the results.

We'll start with this meetup, in 2 parts: first we can chat about charity evaluation in general. If anyone is experienced/knowledgable and wants to give us a primer, that would be really cool. We might have a guest speaker? Then we can get to talking about how this project might work practically and lay out a plan.

For the project, some suggested primary data sources would be the Ottawa Community Foundation, Revenue Canada, and individual charity websites. Also, people pointed to charityintelligence.ca and  charitydata.ca as a resource for finance data.

This will be beginner-friendly, but very slightly more niche. But you're more than welcome to join us even if we haven't met before or you aren't sure what this effective altruism thing is all about. We'd be happy to meet you!
