About the Organization:

Widows Aid & Protection Center (WAPC) Consortium comprises widow’s community based organizations that work together for purposes of transforming widows lives economically, mentally and socially by enabling them to have access to resource management. Empowering widows through provision of livelihood training, psychosocial support, financial literacy, digital literacy and climate-resilient farming training. WAPC consortium currently working with CBOs in Samia Sub County, Busia County in the Republic of Kenya. WAPC Consortium, a trusted advocate for vulnerable women within communities, is recruiting a Digital Fundraising Associate Intern.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop and implement robust fundraising strategies that align with WAPC Consortium’s mission and long-term goals, ensuring the sustainability and expansion of funding sources.
  • Identify, cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, leveraging personal and professional networks to enhance WAPC Consortium’s donor base.
  • Engage with team to facilitate high-level donor relationships, including arranging meetings and presentations.
  • Conduct research to identify potential funding opportunities from foundations, agencies, particularly those aligned with achievement of SDG’s.
  • Craft compelling, targeted grant proposals and concept notes that align WAPC Consortium’s programs with donor priorities, ensuring the achievement of specific fundraising targets.
  • Design and manage online fundraising campaigns (e.g. GoFundMe, social media)
  • Write compelling donor appeals and updates
  • Identify and engage donor networks, platforms, and institutional supporters
  • Support reporting, analytics, and online storytelling
  • Effectively collaborate remotely with the local team in Kenya

Reporting:

  • Provide detailed reports on the progress of all fundraising activities, including donor engagement and strategic goal attainment.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly reports; Ensuring reports include compelling stories, data and visuals to enhance donor engagement and satisfaction.
  • Conduct monthly review of WAPC Consortium’s fundraising performance, assessing the success of various strategies, events and donor relationships.

Qualifications and Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications, International Relations or a related field is required.
  • Two years of experience in fundraising and community development.
  • Familiarity with GoFundMe, Mailchimp, Canva and basic social media strategy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex ideas to various stakeholders including donors, partners and internal teams
  • Demonstrated capability to take ownership of projects and drive progress independently
  • Ability to maintain a high level of detail while keeping sight of the broader strategic objective.
  • Passionate about global development, women’s rights, and grassroots work
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a strong focus on results and impact. Motivated, flexible and culturally sensitive

Terms:

Position is not remunerated. With high potential of remuneration upon successful completion of internship period.
