I've only just come across this post, but wanted to say that I've been following and to some extent involved in the sense-making / metamodern space for a few years now, and I too have been wondering why there appears to be so little engagement with that work from the EA side.
Either way I've also been thinking of writing a post about it at some point, and it's encouraging to see that there are at least some people who are interested in this stuff!
Is anyone in EA thinking about (or has come across) the metacrisis?
For those not familiar with the term, this article can provide a rough idea of what it's about, while this article provides a more in-depth (though somewhat esoteric) exploration.
My questions to any EAs who are familiar with the concept (and the wider 'metamodern' perception of our current historical context) are:
- Do you think this is a good assessment of the fundamental drivers of some of the major challenges of our time?
- If you feel that the assessment is roughly correct, do you think it has any implications for cause prioritisation within EA?
