This is my first post on this forum and I really am excited that there are so many people working on this problem. I have one thought I wish to share with the OP.

Does it really matter how rigorous this model is? I mean I am sure the AI futures team would balk at that but the stakes concern the entire human species. A fate worse then extinction, a digital hell, could be around the corner. So just about any alarm that goes viral is welcome news to me. 

Stephen Hawking once said "If a superior alien civilization sent us a message saying, ‘We’ll arrive in a few decades,’ would we just reply, ‘OK, call us when you get here—we’ll leave the lights on’? Probably not—but this is more or less what is happening with AI,”

Let's do something more than turn the lights on. Even if we take some shortcuts.
