Over the past 4–5 years, I have been deeply engaged in AI Safety, with a specific focus on AI Alignment through Ethics for the last 3–4 years. My research primarily focuses on AI Alignment through Ethics, with an emphasis on Metaethical paradigms, and the concept of Artificial Wisdom as a foundation for ethical AI systems. I am currently completing my Bachelor’s degree in Information Engineering at the University of Padua, Italy. Alongside my studies, I am actively preparing for a PhD programs, fellowships, and other research opportunities to further my research in AI Safety and Alignment. Currently, I am co-authoring my first paper on the role of large language models in academia, in collaboration with my professor. Additionally, I am working on converting several of my research projects into publications with support from the Effective Thesis. I am also actively seeking PhD programs, fellowships, and other research opportunities aligned with my expertise and interests. I look forward to collaborating with researchers and professionals who share a passion for AI Alignment and ethical AI development. For a comprehensive overview of my work, you can visit my "Zanny Zeal" page at myspy.vercel.app or directly via https://dhnz.short.gy/zeal, where I outline my past projects, ongoing research, and future aspirations. I also try to keep my LinkedIn profile (https://www.linkedin.com/in/MadMyspy) updated to provide additional details.
I’m primarily looking to connect with new and interesting people working in my field of interest. I expect to complete my Bachelor's by July 2025 and plan to pursue a PhD afterward. Beyond that, I enjoy deep and insightful conversations on a variety of topics. Feel free to check my biography above to see if our interests align!
I have been involved in AI Safety for 4-5 years, contributing in various ways, including giving several talks. I’d be happy to give a talk in this field. Additionally, my deep interest in Philosophy has helped me develop strong abstraction skills, which I can share if relevant. That said, I may not always be fully aware of how I can be most helpful, so I’d encourage you to check my biography and LinkedIn to see if my expertise aligns with your needs.
Good to see others finding similar solutions as me.
The ones I learnt this time are:
1. "If I have a lot of back-to-back meetings, I block a 30-minute slot in my schedule so that I will be able to rest."
I think it must have to do with being Introvert, I feel so exhausted just after talking to 3 people.
2. "I think we should normalise taking notes! This is because you won’t remember what someone told you 6 months later, but you want to when you next see them."
In Berlin, one of the 1-1 did audio recording, I think that would be better if some quite place is available. Personally, I find it hard to talk and type at the same time.
3. "I use the nap room at basically every conference, sometimes twice a day. If I feel tired end up skipping the talks I blocked time for or maybe even cancel my last 1-1s. People tend to be very understanding."
I met many people randomly and so just having a little chat and catchup took around 20-25 minutes. Cascading to rest of the things.
Things I would like to add:
1. Find ways to avoid redundancy, make better crisp self-intros and revisit others linkedin or swapcard details.
2. Make sure to not make it like an interview for either person.
3. Even if you feel like, don't drink too much coffee. It helps in short run, but affects in day 2 end and day 3. Surely on Mondays.
