My name is Kendrea Beers. Currently, I'm a MS student and Graduate Research Assistant in the Artificial Intelligence program at Oregon State University, where I advocate for safety and ethics as the co-president of the AI Graduate Student Association. My thesis will be on the role of formal methods in AI safety. I spent the first year of my MS on technical safety research: imposing deontic logic constraints on apprenticeship learning.
I did my HBS in Philosophy (with a focus on Buddhist ethics) with minors in Math and Computer Science.
I've been involved in EA for most of a decade now, attending my first EA Global in 2017. I figure my career is for AI safety/ethics and my money is for animal welfare and global poverty alleviation.
