"Earlier today, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth shared on X that he is directing the Department of War to designate Anthropic a supply chain risk. This action follows months of negotiations that reached an impasse over two exceptions we requested to the lawful use of our AI model, Claude: the mass domestic surveillance of Americans and fully autonomous weapons."

"The mass domestic surveillance of Americans and fully autonomous weapons."
This is not some casual conversation. This statement was certainly triple checked by lawyers, which means Anthropic can prove it in court. What does the Department of War have to do with mass domestic surveillance of Americans? Could it be the same as the deployment of the US National Guard to the US cities

Who knows, maybe the federal government might want to add at some stage the third point - a social credit system? Just to make sure the voters vote correctly to make America great again.

I wonder how many US frontier labs would be happy to accept that?

It increasingly looks like Anthropic will benefit from developing much stronger ties with jurisdictions such as Finland and the Netherlands, and expanding presence in the UK. Who knows, maybe after a few generations this will be written in history books as a civilisational cross-roads. Or will be not - depends on who will write those textbooks.
