You can call them differently or figure out a different number of them or whatever, but the thought remains the same - underlying principles not current causes.

Another plus is that many cause areas are kind of scary in art form (malaria? suffering on factory farms? nuclear war? AI doom?) so are maybe not the best for a mural intended to inspire new people.

Hello EAs!

We're planning to paint a mural or two in the internal courtyard of the EA Hotel (a residence supporting EAs run by CEEALAR, the Centre for Enabling EA Learning and Research) to create a more welcoming atmosphere and inspire residents, and we're looking for suggestions from the broader EA community. It will be painted by residents with varying levels of  experience, so we're looking for ideas that aren't overly complicated.

left side is people/acts/vibes of altruism, right side is people/acts/vibes of science, evidence based mindset, rationality, middle is combination of the two. photo below a loose style guide. Could come off as pretentionous but I think you can avoid that by just having all the people in the middle be historical examples and not from the current ea movement.

Do something on the four principles of principles-first EA: prioritisation, impartiality, truth-seeking and collaboration!

Cause areas will shift over time so stuff about them will date your mural but (assuming we have the principles right) the principles won't.
