Hi all,
I have the opportunity to organize a session on the future of the (non-EA) human rights nonprofit I work for. The organisation is going through a major reorganisation because of funding cuts.

I’d love to introduce EA principles including scale, cost-effectiveness, neglectedness, and tractability as a new lens for thinking about impact.

My goals:

  1. Consider (radically) different metrics than those currently used
  2. Spark curiosity about EA among team members

I expect mixed responses: some colleagues are very committed to the traditional model, while others may be more open to new perspectives. Human rights advocacy/education falls outside EA’s focus as it’s hard to scale and quantify but I’m sure introducing the principles will spark a lively discussion.

Has anyone here introduced EA thinking in a non-EA nonprofit or run a similar session? I'd love to hear tips, experiences, or resources to help me prepare.

Thanks!

@Gemma 🔸 I think you mentioned doing something like this? Or was it for the GWWC pledge in particular?

Hi both,

Yes I have attempted this at my former workplace and in the effective giving context - varying levels of success but I do have thoughts.

@Jeltsje Boersma I'd be happy to have a quick call about it - feel free to DM me on here
