I have a real love for learning and so have been through multiple pivots throughout my career. starting as a telecommunications engineer. For seven years I worked in hardware, software, then consulting and finally as a market strategist. From there, I became a secondary school mathematics teacher and taught at local schools in the UK, Australia and then at various international schools in Sudan, East Timor, and Uganda. In 2010-2011, a Master of International Crisis Management led me into humanitarian work (education in emergencies) and then in 2023 I completed a Master of Social Work. I am currently working with a large youth service provider coordinating a place-based collaboration to end youth homelessness by 2032. Throughout my career, advocacy has been my passion and I have managed to weave it into pretty much every role I have had. I am now on a journey to pivot to a high-impact role at the intersection of AI Governance, advocacy, and animal welfare. I have a 12-month plan that includes fellowships, courses, collaborations, conferences, networking and more. I am very excited to be a part of the EA community.

How others can help me

I am interested to understand what the opportunities are at the intersection of AI Governance, advocacy, and animal welfare, and if not animal welfare, possibly vulnerable/marginalised communities since I have significant experience working with Indigenous communities in remote areas of Australia. I would love to know more about people's experiences pivoting from non-traditional backgrounds into AI Governance or animal welfare and to understand how my skills and knowledge could be best leveraged for high impact roles. Would be great to find out more about opportunities in Australia for such work and suggestions for building networks and connections. I would also love to know more about foundng/co-founding a social enterprise/not-for-profit and maybe bouncing some ideas around.

How I can help others

Happy to support with any research, provide feedback on written work or submissions, to review CVs and/or cover letters. I have considerable experience in advocacy and am happy to discuss suitable strategies or support any campaigning efforts. Am brilliant at listening and applying logical reasoning (and lateral thinking). Love volunteering whether organising events, building community engagement, logistics, or just about anything.

Multipolar worlds will compete away >90% of net value that would otherwise be preserved. Unsure,  don't know enough to agree or disagree

Partially aligned transformative AIs are likely to be stable under reflection.  Nothing partially aligned will be stable plus even if it were, stability doesn't equate with safety.
