Far-future effects are the most important determinant of what we ought to do

I think it's probably reasonable to discount the future to some extent (especially when we're uncertain there's even going to be a far future), but I also see potential for unimaginable future good, and think there's really value in getting to that point sooner rather than later

I haven't seen any convincing and coherent framework that can analytically equate animal lives to human lives, but I am open to having my mind changed. My current position is informed mostly by my (flawed) intuition
