Hello everyone, I have had an idea for a PBC (Public Benefit Corporation) for a long time, and now I am going to take action to realize it.
The PBC will essentially spin off breakthroughs from the university that could be applied to AI and accelerate it either capability wise and/or training. However using our intermediary position be in a position to have the leverage to demand AI safety and alignment espeacilly if the breakthrough can , since the dilemma right now is around time and how to most corporations time is of the essence thus AI safety and alignment is depirtotized.
This was inspired by a university hardware breakthrough in data transfer that i saw a few years ago that could accelerate AI . I had the idea of rather than just licensing the technology. The PBC could get the rights or the ability to license a tech like this. A, part of the licensing agreement, the AI labs and corporations have to prioritize AI safety. B, if the breakthrough can create spare time, allow for more AI safety and alignment.
I will initially be reaching out to the distinguished Geoffrey Hinton, Professor Yoshua Bengio (both of whom are regarded as the godfathers of AI), and any others. Is there anyone else you know that I could reach out to?
My other hope is to reserve a seat for a renowned expert on AI safety to be on our board of directors to ensure that this PBC doesn't become a similar to how OpenAI switched to a for-profit and profit maximisation structre
Before approaching the creators of this tech and then the investors . I am 18, and this is my first time doing this; however, this is the future that's on the line, so I have a valid stake and interest in this. Any thoughts and suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time and attention to this.
.
From this post, I am not clear on what your idea is or what you intend to accomplish. Why does the world need another AI company, and what exactly would this company work on?
Realistically, if you don't have significant experience in the machine learning field (or at least in business), you are going to have a hard time starting a new AI company.
Thank you for your feedback. To elaborate, the company will be an intermediary, and have a similar role to Qualcomm, Qualcomm is often regarded as a gatekeeper of mobile and wireless and So similar that we would have a kind of gatekeeper. However not out of for profit or to shape a agenda, our gatekeeper status over innovations, especially in the hardware sector we could ensure and enforce AI safety and alignment in the interest of everyone.
Also this isn't just another AI company, at the moment most of the AI company's either make or train models or provide the hardware either in the form of chip making or the data centers for them. We would be a gate keeper to the next generation of such innovation and hardware similar to again Qualcomm but for AI and emerging tech as well as ethics.
