Err on the side of applying. Don't think too much into the details of whether you will be getting selected - it's a conference - meant to be for folks interested in the cause and don't know much about it to gain more exposure.
After reading your post I don't see the cause of doubt - to me it just seems hesitance in applying, which won't help you in long run. Take bets and apply
So are you in progress now for the fieldbuilding effort you mentioned in the post guneyulasturker 's Quick takes?
If yes - can you share more on how you got funding / incubating help?
If no - what challenges have you been facing so far?

9 months after your writeup - do you think anything has changed related to this? I do see Generator Residency coming up and a Field building track in MATS which is interested but it would take time to see the results.
Something which I have found tough is how do you get funding / incubation support if you are starting field building yourself in AI safety? Starting programs or organization. I see BlueDot Incubator week but seems like competitive to get in - do you know of any such incubators?
