Thanks for starting this conversation. I tend to agree that EA groups should act as incubators. I’d say that some of the most impactful work we’ve done at EA Israel has been through incubation. One challenge I’ve found is securing funding before having a leader in place, since grants are often tied to specific individuals. Another potential failure mode I’d add is the ability of community builders to identify and select the right candidates. This requires a different skill set on top of the generalist skills.
