Most areas of capabilities research receive a 10x speedup from AI automation before most areas of safety research

In my view, funding for AI capabilities currently outpaces that for AI safety. Investors appear driven to maximise the utility of AI automation in research early on, fearing that safety protocols might eventually impede or bottleneck the pace of innovation.
