Oh, it’s so true! I didn’t do it intentionally, but it seems that my recent volunteer positions as an outreach organizer and in other roles are positioning me far better for my next role in the animal advocacy space than my past professional experience. This is doubly true as I pivot my career. It has also given me contacts within the space who, until now, have been fellow volunteers and friends, but are now actively advocating for me in the NGOs they already work for. 🙂
