I’ve been using ChatGPT in my EA-adjacent work too (mostly in comms and early-stage program design), and I’ve had a lot of the same mixed feelings. On one hand, it genuinely boosts my productivity: first drafts are faster, research feels lighter, and I get to explore more ideas in less time. On the other hand… yeah, I’ve also noticed a subtle shift in how emotionally connected I feel to the work. It’s like I’m moving through tasks more efficiently, but sometimes with less depth or presence.

The point about things sounding a bit “samey” also rings true. GPT writes cleanly, persuasively — but often in a kind of generic voice. I sometimes worry that over time, especially if many of us rely on it, our outputs (and maybe even our thought patterns?) could start converging in ways we don’t notice.

That said, the accessibility upside is huge. I’ve seen junior team members go from being unsure writers to producing great content with a bit of AI scaffolding. That feels meaningfully aligned with EA values — enabling more people to contribute, not just the ones with the most polished prose.

I don’t think this is a clear-cut good or bad — but I do think it’s the kind of shift that happens quietly, and is easy to overlook until it's already shaped how we work. Really glad you brought it up.
