I appreciate reading and talking about crazy-ish global poverty ideas. Would be great to talk to you more about the second one and others like it, but I don't have 10 karma yet. There's a good bit of evidence supporting impact of behavioral interventions in extreme poverty alleviation, especially when combined with other interventions like graduation programs and cash transfers. Perhaps one element of this is the reduction of cognitive load by defining a clear path forward. Cognitive load and the "hope trap" are known issues encumbering people living in extreme poverty.
I have a few other crazy-ish ideas that I'd love to share. Happy to talk more.
Hi everyone, I'm Roland. I've worked in econometrics and experimentation for tech and consumer companies for many years and have been lurking on EA for the past couple. I'm a bit of a polymath, with a couple graduate degrees in computational physics and business administration. I'd like to engage more with people who are interested in working on effective and novel solutions to problems like extreme poverty and health. I am action-oriented and interested particularly in exploring low-friction, big-if-true POC solutions that can be trialed in these domains. I love meeting new people so feel free to say hi :)
