Bio

AI governance practitioner and policy researcher transitioning from administrative leadership into full-time AI safety work. I volunteer on the Legal Committee at the AI Ethics and Integrity International Association, where I drafted a Human Review and Escalation SOP on human oversight of AI systems.

I also serve as AI Policy Researcher at AFRI-SPAC and facilitate monthly AI literacy webinars for youth globally. Published on the EA Forum on AI safety, governance gaps and long-term risk.

How others can help me

I am currently seeking funding to pursue my MSc in AI Ethics and Society at the University of Leeds, where I will research human oversight mechanisms and AI power concentration risks across diverse institutional contexts. If you work in AI governance funding, know of relevant opportunities, or are interested in collaborating on governance frameworks or policy briefs, I would love to connect.

How I can help others

I can help with AI governance frameworks, human oversight documentation and making complex governance concepts accessible to non-specialist audiences. I am particularly well placed to support practitioners working in or on underrepresented regions, and anyone building practical governance tools for organisations without large compliance teams.

> One thing I am still thinking about is where responsibility should realistically sit when harm from deepfakes occurs.

Is it more effective to focus on platforms, developers, or end users—or does it have to be shared?

Hello EA community! 👋

My name is Agwu  Nneoma and I am really glad to finally be here.

I come from an administrative and operations background but AI — specifically its risks, ethics and governance gaps — pulled me in and I have not looked back since. That journey took me through courses, volunteering and eventually to the Legal Committee at the AI Ethics and Integrity International Association (AIEI), where I currently serve as an Associated Participant contributing to real governance work.

I am newer here but not new to caring deeply about this space.

I just put up my first post on the forum — it is my honest story of how I found my way into AI governance from Nigeria, and a question I genuinely want the community's input on:

It is still awaiting moderator approval but once it is live I would love your thoughts, pushback and honest perspectives.

Looking forward to learning from and contributing to this community. 🙂
