The event marked the end of volunteer month and brought together NGOs and activists in defense of animals at the Memorial da América Latina in SP

On August 31, 2024, the Memorial da América Latina, in São Paulo - Brazil, was the stage for the event "Voluntary Energy - Together for Animals", promoted by Animal Forum in partnership with organizations Altruísmo Eficaz Brasil, Animal Equality, Mercy for Animals, Animal Synergy, Brazilian Vegetarian Society (SVB), The Pollination Project Foundation and support from Sea Shepherd Brasil. The event focused on training and connecting activists and volunteers dedicated to the animal cause.

The main mission of "Voluntary Energy - Together for Animals" was to promote the union and training of volunteers and activists with organizations dedicated to the defense of animals, to strengthen protection initiatives for all species, regardless of their habitat or condition. Bringing together several national and international NGOs, the meeting created a space for exchange and collaboration, where volunteers and interested parties could connect and acquire the necessary skills to enhance their actions in favor of the animal cause.

With 150 tickets available and quickly sold out, the event was attended by 111 participants, including 13 volunteers who received travel assistance offered by The Pollination Project Foundation, coming from states such as Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Distrito Federal, and São Paulo, thus expanding the scope of training and allowing activists from different locations to participate in the meeting. The program, which started at noon, provided an environment for networking and exchanging experiences between animal advocates.

The official opening took place at 1:30 pm, with a speech by the president of the Animal Forum, Elizabeth Mac Gregor, highlighting the importance of strengthening actions in favor of animal protection throughout Brazil. 

The master of ceremonies also gave space for a brief presentation of the organizations involved, highlighting their contributions to the event. The first big moment of the day was the workshop promoted by the Brazilian Vegetarian Society, which addressed the challenges of vegan activism. 

The activity brought reflections on the practice of veganism and strategies to expand the impact of activism, offering participants practical tools to act in animal defense.

After the break, a conversation mediated by the Altruísmo Eficaz Brasil team brought together three experienced volunteers, who shared their trajectories in the animal cause. Amanda Guimarães, Fabyana Carvalho, and Leandro Franz brought stories about the challenges and opportunities in volunteer work, enriching the debate with their personal and professional experiences.

The occasion was also an opportunity for NGOs to present their initiatives and exchange ideas with volunteers. Support tables and informational materials were available throughout the day, encouraging interaction and the creation of new connections between participants. The initiative marked the end of volunteer month and was designed to inspire, train, and connect those who already work or want to get involved in the animal cause. The Animal Forum and partner organizations highlighted the importance of events like this to strengthen the animal protection network in the country.

The event ended with an official photo on stage, symbolizing the unity of participants in favor of animals. We hope to continue this activity in the coming years, bringing together even more people, and seeking to expand the reach and relevance of voluntary actions in Brazil.

Evento marcou o encerramento do mês do voluntariado e reuniu ONGs e ativistas na defesa dos animais no memorial da América Latina, em SP

Dia 31 de agosto de 2024, o Memorial da América Latina, em São Paulo - Brasil, foi palco do evento "Energia Voluntária - Juntos pelos Animais", promovido pelo Fórum Animal em parceria com as organizações Altruísmo Eficaz, Animal Equality, Mercy for Animals, Sinergia Animal, Sociedade Vegetariana Brasileira (SVB), The Pollination Project Foundation e apoio da Sea Shepherd Brasil. O evento concentrou-se na formação e conexão de ativistas e voluntários dedicados à causa animal.

A principal missão do "Energia Voluntária - Juntos pelos Animais" foi promover a união e capacitação de voluntários e ativistas junto às organizações dedicadas à defesa dos animais, com o intuito de fortalecer as iniciativas de proteção para todas as espécies, independentemente de seu habitat ou condição. Reunindo diversas ONGs nacionais e internacionais, o encontro criou um espaço de troca e colaboração, onde voluntários e interessados pudessem se conectar e adquirir as habilidades necessárias para potencializar suas ações em prol da causa animal.

Com 150 ingressos disponibilizados e rapidamente esgotados, o evento contou com a presença de 111 participantes, incluindo 13 voluntários que receberam auxílio viagem oferecido pela The Pollination Project Foundation, vindos de estados como Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Distrito Federal e São Paulo, ampliando, assim, o alcance da capacitação e permitindo que ativistas de diversas localidades pudessem participar do encontro. A programação, que começou ao meio-dia, proporcionou um ambiente de networking e troca de experiências entre os defensores da causa animal.

A abertura oficial ocorreu às 13h30, com um discurso da presidente do Fórum Animal, Elizabeth Mac Gregor, destacando a importância de fortalecer as ações em prol da proteção animal em todo o Brasil. 

A mestre de cerimônias também deu espaço para uma breve apresentação das organizações envolvidas, ressaltando suas contribuições para o evento. O primeiro grande momento do dia foi o workshop promovido pela Sociedade Vegetariana Brasileira, que abordou os desafios do ativismo vegano. 

A atividade trouxe reflexões sobre a prática do veganismo e estratégias para ampliar o impacto do ativismo, oferecendo aos participantes ferramentas práticas para atuar na defesa animal.

Após o intervalo, uma roda de conversa mediada pela equipe do Altruísmo Eficaz Brasil reuniu três voluntários experientes, que compartilharam suas trajetórias na causa animal. Amanda Guimarães, Fabyana Carvalho e Leandro Franz trouxeram relatos sobre os desafios e oportunidades no trabalho voluntário, enriquecendo o debate com suas experiências pessoais e profissionais.

A ocasião também foi uma oportunidade para as ONGs apresentarem suas iniciativas e trocarem ideias com os voluntários presentes. Mesas de apoio e materiais informativos estavam disponíveis durante todo o dia, incentivando a interação e a criação de novas conexões entre os participantes. A iniciativa marcou o encerramento do mês do voluntariado e foi planejada para inspirar, capacitar e conectar aqueles que já atuam ou desejam se engajar na causa animal. O Fórum Animal e as organizações parceiras ressaltaram a importância de eventos como esse para fortalecer a rede de proteção animal no país.

O evento foi encerrado com uma foto oficial no palco, simbolizando a união dos participantes em prol dos animais. Esperamos a continuidade dessa atividade nos próximos anos, reunindo ainda mais pessoas, buscando ampliar o alcance e a relevância das ações voluntárias no Brasil.
