The Safe AI Forum (SAIF) is hiring an Operations Associate/Specialist to help build the operational foundation that enables our work on international AI governance.

About SAIF

SAIF is a US 501(c)3 dedicated to advancing international cooperation to reduce extreme AI risks. We specialise in international AI governance, fostering coordination and communication between states and non-state actors across the most important AI jurisdictions.

Our flagship programme, the International Dialogue on AI Safety (IDAIS), brings together senior computer scientists and AI governance experts from multiple jurisdictions to collaborate on AI risk. We also run workshops, working groups, and other convenings.

About the role

We're looking for our second operations generalist to take ownership of core operational workstreams as we scale. This is a high-leverage role where you'll work directly with me (Harsimran) to build the systems and processes that enable SAIF's work.

  • Building and maintaining internal systems and infrastructure (~30%)
  • Supporting day-to-day operations and administration (~30%)

Who we're looking for

Strong candidates will likely have:

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • An ownership mentality with bias towards action
  • Service orientation and genuine interest in enabling others' success
  • Mission alignment and motivation to reduce AI risks

Why join SAIF?

  • High leverage: Your work will directly shape organisational capacity and enable critical work on international AI coordination
  • Variety and growth: The role is intentionally broad and will evolve as SAIF grows. You'll work across people operations, systems, and organisational infrastructure
  • Small, high-context team: You'll be part of a team of nine based across the UK and US, working closely with leadership
  • Impact-focused culture: We move quickly, balance rigour with speed, and take genuine ownership of outcomes
