Centre for Exploratory Altruism Research

The Centre for Exploratory Altruism Research (CEARCH) is a research and grantmaking organization founded by Joel Tan in 2022 through the Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Programme. [1] They try to find and fund highly cost-effective philanthropic ideas. In practice, this involves:

  • Cause prioritization research to identify high-impact causes
  • Grantmaking and donor advisory work to move money to such promising causes.

CEARCH operates under a fiscal sponsorship arrangement with Players Philanthropy Fund, a Texas nonprofit with federal tax-exempt status, which allows it to receive and distribute funds efficiently. The funding supports research, grantmaking, and donor advisory activities, with an emphasis on identifying and supporting highly cost-effective philanthropic causes.[2]
