I’m an economist based in Uruguay, currently pursuing an M.S. in Economics and certified in AI Ethics. For the past seven years, I’ve worked as an independent contractor, building the operational and strategic systems that help tech startups and impact-driven teams scale. Recently, my focus has shifted toward global catastrophic risks; I’ve volunteered on economic impact models for education in India and developed frameworks for AI fairness and market concentration. I’m now transitioning my career to work directly with organizations addressing the world’s most pressing problems, with a particular interest in AI Governance and Safety.

How others can help me

I’m looking to connect with people working in AI Safety, AI governance or economic research. I’d love to hear about opportunities where an "ops-heavy" economist can contribute, whether through technical auditing, policy analysis, or organizational scaling. If you have experience navigating career pivots within EA or advice on raising AI Safety awareness , I’d value a brief chat or any resources you might recommend.

How I can help others

I can help bridge the gap between high-level strategy and daily execution. I can design automated workflows and I'm also happy to collaborating on research involving economic modeling, AI ethics auditing, or policy analysis.

Hi everyone!

I'm Maxi and I'm from and based in Uruguay. I'm an economist pursuing a Masters in Economics and certified in AI Ethics, and for a while now I became increasingly interested on how to act and create lasting impact on the world's most pressing problems. Recently I did some volunteering as well, in the development of an economic impact analysis model for education in India.

I've known EA for a while, been getting involved with its conetent, and I recently got enrolled to the EA introductory program.

I have worked as an independent contractor in operations and strategy for the last 7 years. Now, I'm seeking to change my career path to organizations where I can directly address global issues and make a meaningful impact.

Also, I'm particularly interested AI Governance and Policy and have some plans to raise awareness about AI Safety in Uruguay.

I would love to engage in rich discussions and learn from this community! So I'm really looking forward to being active over here.

I'm always open for dms over here so if we share interests please feel free to reach out.
So that's all for now, and I wish to speak soon!
