I'm a community builder in the Middle East, freshly graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Psychology. I'm primarily interested in improving institutional decision making, as well as AI alignment and safety.

How others can help me

1. Share opportunities to get involved in research on decision making

2. Talk about or direct me to resources on improving institutional decision making

3. Share their insights from community building

How I can help others

1. I have experience with posting on the forum, and conducting EA focused research.

2. I can provide advice on how to write better.

3. I can provide insights from community building (organising events, running fellowships, managing groups, etc)

Thank you for this post! I was not at the EAGx you spoke at, and I generally prefer text posts to videos, so this was helpful.

The main point you make, ie, incentivizing people to take action even when they know what's "right", is my primary area of research interest. I am strongly considering pursuing a graduate path in cognitive/behavioral neuroscience/psychology to contribute to this field through basic research (although I am still wondering if I should pursue something more applied).

I'm currently drafting a list of possible theses so I can reach out to labs/PIs. I wanted to ask, are there specific problems you'd like to see explored by a psychologist/neuroscientist?

This is a very interesting line of inquiry, where can I find the report when it's ready?

Morality is objective, but I think some of it changes over time based on new information we uncover and/or changing sentiments, and that change may not always be objective at first

Decision making is a personal favorite cause area of mine and I'd like to see a lot more discussion around it than there is right now, especially because it seems to hold immense potential.

I agree that most criticism of EA as a movement/philosophy are often baseless, but recently I've begun to lose faith in the community as an EA myself. What are your thoughts on criticisms of EAs rather than EA?

This is a great idea Kaleem and addressing a gap that I've been looking at solutions for!
Beyond the issue of figuring out the market cap, what are your next steps? I'd be interested in seeing Zakat be redirected to effective charities while meeting the requirements for recipients.
I'd love to see this happen! What sort of help would you be looking for?

This sounds very interesting and closely aligns with my personal long-term career goals. Would the seminar content will be made available online for those looking to complete the course remotely or is this purely in-person?

Hi JP,

In recent days I've come to think I would appreciate being able to sort the posts I have saved for later (by date posted, time to read, karma, tags, etc). Is this possible?

Thanks!

I'm very interested in joining, thank you for making the group!
