The World Climate Relay is a climate fundraising organisation raising money for high-impact climate charities recommended by Giving Green.
In our first six months, we raised $140,000 from people in 62 countries with just $15,000 of spending and a core team of five volunteers. Now, we’re testing whether we can replicate that model in communities around the world.
The World Climate Relay was co-founded by Jennifer Stretton and Martina Pepiciello. Jennifer previously completed the Ambitious Impact incubation program in 2024 and co-founded Mieux Donner, the French effective giving initiative, which has raised €1.2 million in its first two years.
The World Climate Relay builds on that experience to bring effective giving to a global audience.
We’re looking for Hub Leaders: ambitious, reliable people who want to build a World Climate Relay community in their own region from scratch.
The role: Voluntary, approximately 5 hours per week

What would you do?
As a Hub Leader, you’ll take ownership of building the World Climate Relay community in your area. Your goal is simple: bring people together and raise as much money as possible for some of the world’s most effective climate charities.
How you do that is up to you. You’ll have the freedom to shape your local hub, organise events and activities, build partnerships and try different ideas — with plenty of guidance, support and resources from the founding team.
We’ll give you the framework and support; you’ll own what happens locally.
What could your hub look like?
You’ll have autonomy to test different ways of increasing participation and donations. This could include:
- Recruiting volunteers and fundraisers
- Building relationships with local organisations and businesses
- Recruiting influencers, athletes and ambassadors
- Organising events and giving presentations
- Getting the World Climate Relay onto podcasts and other media
- Mobilising your local community during Relay Week, 5–12 June 2027
- Running experiments and sharing what works
We’re looking for people who can take ownership, build relationships and figure things out. You’ll have support from the founding team, but you’ll be responsible for making your local hub successful.
The role, honestly
This is a proof of concept. The Hub Leader role is voluntary, with some funding available for local events and activities.
Expect to commit around 5 hours a week during the build-up to Relay Week, rising to more in the final couple of weeks and during the event itself. A typical week might look like a couple of outreach conversations, one planning call, and some time on event logistics, it scales up sharply as June approaches.
What we're looking for
You don't need to be a climate expert. We're looking for people who:
- Want to achieve something significant, not just add a line to their CV
- Can bring different kinds of people together
- Create opportunities rather than wait for instructions
- Follow through on what they say they'll do
- Would rather build something real than just talk about it
We're especially interested in people who already have some connections in a community and think: "I could actually make this happen here."
What you get
The goal isn't simply to build a big community. It's to test whether this model can create significant, cost-effective climate impact, and generate the evidence needed to decide whether it should be scaled.
You'll walk away with genuine experience in leadership, community building, fundraising, partnerships, public speaking, events, and communications. And unlike most volunteering, you'll be able to point to specific outcomes as we can track donations attributable to your hub

Could you build one?
You don't need to become an expert in decarbonising steel, cutting methane emissions, or shifting energy policy. You can help channel money towards the organisations already doing that work well.
Through World Climate Relay, you can build a community that raises money for Giving Green's recommended climate organisations, chosen because they're where additional funding is expected to do the most good.
The open question is whether a Hub like yours can move meaningfully more money towards that work than it costs to run. You won't know until you try.
