I feel if the goal is durable, democratic oversight of AI companies, then preserving that shared space might be one of the most valuable things we can do.
Avoiding partisan framing, highlighting common values, and resisting the urge to turn AI issues into identity-based political symbols could go a long way.
At times, It feels difficult to choose between survival and ambitions. Survival indirectly forces me not to look at my ambitions coz the later seem too distant. Hence there's no intersection of survival and ambition- this kinda is saddening and sucks the life out of life at times.
Hopeful of seeing more fun, welcoming and wholesome posts that can uplift the spirit of the community. I could refer this post as an example.
I guess what we can work on is trying to keep a check on how to prevent EA Forum getting into reddit-y vibe.
Maria I did check your comment, I've checked most of the comments on that post and I see where you're coming from.
I also think, your proposal is a bit high-fi and might not be feasible for the engineers of this forum's interface (again I am not sure). They can definitely give a try though! That'd be a nice experiment!
Nonetheless, yes! your comment has no reasonable follow ups (as you've cited) but I'd say that does not diminish its value for real :)
