Very cool, will listen. Have you considered posting a transcript? It's super easy with AI now (use one AI to make a transcript, and another one to clean it up and make it more grammatical).
Just listened - really enjoyed it! I recommend for:
Elijah's enthusiasm
Michael's clear reasoning
A whistlestop overview of the development of Michael's ethics (especially, scepticism of kneejerk utilitarian ways of measuring and comparing wellbeing).
Also, seconding Elijah in the intro (though EAs doubtless need no excuse) speeding the podcast up to 1.5x was great.
TLDR: Take the population ethics quiz here: https://mdickens.me/pop-ethics/
Population ethics is an oft-overlooked subfield within ethics. Many people hold views that they don't realize contradict each other, or that have strange implications that they wouldn't endorse if they thought about it more.
Not just that—population ethics is a BIG DEAL. A lot of ethical decisions hinge on how you think about changes in future populations....
A preliminary estimate, and a request for better ones.
