Thanks for the suggestions. I wasn't comfortable copying the entirety of the unpaywalled portion of the text over this time because that would be releasing the copyright on questions for them to be used in any way in the future, which I don't have permission from the askers to do, but it's good to know there's a preference not to link in those situations

Probably combined with frequency limits -- I'm OK with people occassionally linking to their own paywalled content, but the frequency at which I'd deem it advertising is fairly low.

I didn't vote, but was (mildly) annoyed to find the linked post is partly pay-walled, which makes the link-post feel uncomfortably spammy? I expect it would get a more positive reception if the content was reproduced on the forum, rather than directing people to a paid subscription.

One possible norm is that links to paywalled content have to have a '($)' at the start of the title so people do not waste their time if they know they're not going to pay.

I've edited to note that it's partially paywalled and let students etc know how to access a complementary subscription.

I didn't downvote, but presumably the downvotes are for being too promotional of the author's paid blog, with the post having very little on-Forum content. In comparison to the author's last few linkposts to her blog, there's very little content posted on the Forum this time.
