Hi Warren, if you haven't seen it, I recommend checking out the more recent analysis of COVID giving opportunities that Catherine Olsson and I wrote up for the FRAPPE donor circle last spring and summer. We reconvened the group last month and have identified the following top recommendations:
Fast Grants: a top choice in our analysis last year, Fast Grants is now supporting efforts to sequence new virus variants in the United States, Europe, and India, and to accelerate deployment of COVID-19 treatments in countries that are not likely to complete vaccination this year (which includes almost all poorer countries). Our group has committed $283,000 to Fast Grants in this round.
COVID-19 Vaccine Equity Project: CVEP is a partnership of the Sabin Vaccine Institute, Dalberg (which is leading the Country Readiness plank of the COVAX initiative), and JSI Research & Training offering technical assistance on vaccine rollout and distribution across multiple low- and middle-income countries. With the main vaccine distribution effort effort led by Gavi, WHO, and country-level ministries of health, CVEP's role is to fill in gaps and try to solve bottlenecks on the ground. Skoll Foundation has supported a pilot phase that unfolded in late 2020, and CVEP is now trying to raise $19 million to scale up over the course of 2021.

SoGive's post is almost a year old now and I was wondering if there was any updates to this cause area. If not, is this list the most up-to-date on how one would like to make an impact through their donations for COVID-19?

We need a good y-axis: an interval scale of AI capability which means +1 unit always represents the same degree of ‘how much better’, in the same way +1 degree Celsius is always the same amount of ‘how much hotter’.
* Yet there is no good y-axis for AI capability. All our...
