I'm Marcus Daniell, retired pro tennis player and founder of High Impact Athletes. I don't usually write job ads, but this may be the most important hire we make this year, and I wanted to tap into the EA community to see if we hit gold.
What's HIA? We were founded by two Olympians to point the sports world at effective giving. Athletes have moved $3M+ through us to date. Our fastest-growing programme, Race for Impact, runs in partnership with HYROX and turns racers into fundraisers. In the past year it has raised over $8M across 50+ events in 15 countries, from 100,000+ unique donors. This year we expect to move $10–20M, and our three-year aim is delivering $25–50M a year to our recommended organisations.
That money flows through a multi-entity structure: HIA Inc (US, Delaware), our NZ Charitable Trust, a UK charity launching in 2026, a potential EU entity in 26/27, plus partner-hosted funds and ~20 partner charities, in multiple currencies. The finance and operations function has grown rapidly and now requires a full-time, senior role.
Head of Finance & Operations. You'd own consolidated reporting and intercompany reconciliation across the group, treasury and FX, restricted vs unrestricted fund accounting, the compliance calendar (US 990s, UK Charity Commission, NZ Charities Services), the payment-processor stack (Stripe, PayPal, Raisely, Airwallex, Deel), the policy library, and people ops across four jurisdictions. You'd design the systems, run them, and grow the team around them.
Two things are non-negotiable:
Full JD: highimpactathletes.org/finance-ops-jd.
Compensation. Base is up to $100k USD depending on experience, plus a cost of living adjustment if applicable, plus a bonus scheme.
Career development. This is a build-from-scratch Head role that we intend to grow into HIA's first Finance/Operations Director seat - a CFO/COO path for the right person. It reports to Hugo Inglis, our Managing Director. Remote and global, with an Asia-Pacific preference: Hugo and I are both Kiwis, and the role needs some overlap with APAC hours. Strong candidates elsewhere should still apply.
How to apply. Email [email protected] with a ~2-minute Loom on why this role, your CV, one example of finance/ops work you're proud of, and a 3–5 sentence note on why HIA, as a single PDF. Happy to answer questions in the comments.
Cheers,
Marcus
