It is a major privilege to be able to announce our progress on the first iteration of the the Odyssean Process
In 2023, the Odyssean Institute developed the Process as an integrated, all-hazards ready pipeline for deploying collective intelligence, epistemic expertise, and robust simulations of possible futures, against policy failures or neglect on existential and catastrophic risks.
The aim was to ensure that epistemic inputs could be rigorously collated and filtered, expertise debiased, and their insights iteratively developed so irreducible uncertainties are mapped as best as possible. These outputs, useful already as modular findings for anticipatory policymaking , are then socialised with the public. This is so those with skin in the game can deliberate on these findings, ensuring the distortionary influence of vested interests and polarisation can be constrained on urgent and emerging risks.
We launched this first Process with foresight exercises by experts on AI risk in February, and now reaching the main phase of a National Citizens' Assembly on AI in the United Kingdom, concluding in November 2026.
The linked blog contains more thorough updates on progress. We are also hiring for Fellows to support the causal loop modelling of interconnected risks, to develop an automated, reproducible resource for other AI safety researchers and policy makers.
Any support is welcome, with further fundraising and socialising of findings most appreciated, as the documentary we are producing to record this and disseminate the methodology beyond specialist circles as a repeatable recipe is being developed for early 2027.
Many thanks for your time and attention, and for all those reading interest or already aware of these efforts. Here's to collective intelligence and turning innovations to bear on complex, systemic, and emerging risks!
